Just Because I Love You

"…Love the Lord your God, and walk in all His ways, obey His commands, be
faithful to Him, and serve Him with all your heart and your soul." Joshua 22:4 (NLT)
My phone was ringing again!
I had already heard that sound many times and the day had hardly begun. Monday
mornings in my office as Pastor's Secretary could become hectic in a hurry.
First, there was a staff meeting with my co-workers. This was necessary to get
our day and week coordinated as we went many ways in our ministry for Jesus.
Then, the mail somehow always accumulated into a large heap over the weekend.
Taking care of the day's appointments, plus making new ones for the future kept
me busy.
So, when my phone rang one more time, I reluctantly picked it up and answered it
in an appropriate way. To my surprise there in my ear was the voice of my three
year-old granddaughter Faith.
"Grandma, I just want to tell you that I love you," Faith's happy voice spoke
from the phone. Instantly my physical body and emotions relaxed as those
soothing words filled my being.
"I love you, too, Faith," I answered with a smile on my face and tears of joy in
my eyes.
"Bye, have a good day, Grandma," and Faith was gone. The memory of her affection
uttered ever so tenderly over the phone cheered me the rest of the day. Gone was
the earlier stress as I basked in the devotion of my young granddaughter.
Surely God must be just as happy if we take a minute of our fast-paced day to
stop and send a simplistic childlike prayer to Him. We don't even have to use a
high tech telephone.
"Lord, I just want to tell you that I love you," whispered from your heart to
His, would delight Him immensely. Anxieties that you are not even aware of will
be released as you proclaim, "Have a good day, Jesus," in a worshipful and
adoring voice.
