"The flowers are springing up, and the time of singing birds has come." Song of
Solomon 1:14 (NLT)
Birds are singing! Trees are bursting forth with new life and the squirrels are
dancing in the grass. Yes, spring is in the air!
Today my husband sent our ten year-old granddaughter, Mary Kathryn, to take some
mail to our neighbors that had mistakenly been left in our mail box. She
joyfully skipped across our yard loving the warm spring day. When Mary Kathryn
did not return as quickly as her granddaddy thought, he went to investigate.
"I'm coming granddaddy," he heard her returning his call. Mary Kathryn was
carrying a small bouquet of yellow daffodils she had found on the way.
"I picked some flowers for my grandma," was her explanation for the bit of extra
time she had taken. Quite forgiven for the slight detainment, she proceeded in
the house and found water and a cup to display her present of daffodils.
I hugged Mary Kathryn and gave her a big thank you for the beautiful flowers. It
pleased me immensely that my young granddaughter would remember her grandma in
such a grand way. As much as Mary Kathryn loves me, I know God loves me even
more. Daily, He provides us with food, clothes, and shelter. He gives us
wonderful families to love and care for. In addition, if we choose His only Son,
Jesus, as our Lord and Savior, we will someday live with Him forever and ever.
Gratefulness springs forth in us for these gifts in our lives.
And then there are bonus days, like today, when He absolutely delights us with
gorgeous sunshine yellow daffodils, lovingly gathered by our sweet
grandchildren. Do you know this Jesus? Thank Him today for loving you.
