The Lunch

Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did." (1 John 2: 6) "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." 2 Cor 3:8 NIV

In nursing we meet (and help) all kinds of people. Because we care so much, we run into people that get what we call the healing syndrome. I recently experienced what I shall call the butt end of it though. A patient who was extremely grateful to me insisted that I have lunch with his single nephew. After so much persuading I finally agreed to go.

The day came and I hopped into his car for a quick lunch at Seaport Village which was close by. The meal was good and I graciously and politely thanked him. After lunch, the man wanted to linger by the seashore when I broke into tongues (And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." (2 Cor 3:8 NIV) I could not stop praying in the spirit.

In pretty much the same breath, the man exclaimed he liked me and wanted to make a pass. I was insulted because I only agreed to lunch through the insistence of the uncle. Second he was never encouraged.

"No I pleaded. I am a Christian and will remain a Christian. Please take me home."

He did and after I arrived home, he shook my hand apologized profusely and thanked me for putting him in his place. I didn't. God put him in his place.
