There is a beautiful lake in front of my work with cute ducks swimming in. One
day, a duck was crossing the two-way street. Curious to see what would happen to
the duck, I expected it to either run from or stop for cars approaching.
Amazingly, the duck was walking very very confidently with steady speed. She was
walking in such calmness and confidence as if the whole street were hers :) She
did not even bother to look at the cars :)
With that cute duckie way of walking, swinging her tail in happiness as if she
were the queen of the street and to my huge surprise, each time a car was
approaching, the duckie was already stepping over one of the lane lines in the
street; thus was safe. Finally, she reached the other side without even being
troubled or frightened.
I then wondered, if God cares for that duckie that much, how much then does He
care about His children? Very very very very much. It depends on us then. If we
trust that He hugely cares and arranges the best for us, we will be able to walk
in the life streets that are crowded with troubles and worries as much
confidently, peacefully and safely as that duckie did. Moreover, we will not
need to bother about anything since we are the children of King of Kings.
However, as that duckie was only focusing on the other side of the street, we
need to focus our hearts only on God's promise, "For I know the plans have for
you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11) and simply disregard the temporary
hits of life. The more we concentrate on them, the more blind we become to
perceive other happy aspects of life, the farther we get from God and the more
confused we become.
Believe me, I was overwhelmed with worries that day. But when I saw that duckie,
I felt God confirming, "Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he
will never let the righteous fall." (Psalm 55:22)
If you have placed your faith in God's Son Jesus Christ, can you hear His tender
voice speaking to you now, saying, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have
summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be
with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set
you ablaze." (Isaiah 43:1-2)
