Today I Was Reminded
|
How many times do we forget to remember how God has supplied all our needs,
and has given us better than we ever expected?
I am currently involved in a project that requires us to move a historical art
museum… A costly adventure! While trying to raise funds and look at available
properties, I stumbled across an awesome property at a great location, for a
great price.
Needless to say there was a contract on the property already.
The real estate agent asked me what I wanted the property for and I told her
that I wanted it for a museum. She told me she had another property she could
show me but it was more than 2 1/2 times the price. In fact the selling price is
$1,999,999.
I laughed and said "A piece of cake! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!"
I made an appointment to see the property. Excuse me! This property is an
estate!
On my way out the door to see the estate, I got a phone call from the County
Freeholders Offices. They wanted to set up an appointment with me concerning the
non-profit organization I represented. In the letter I wrote requesting a
meeting with them, I never stated what organization I was with, or what I
wanted. Instead, I wrote "If you are interested in honoring all Veterans and
Seniors, while exciting the minds of School Administrators, Teachers and
Students, please give me a call"
They did!
All the way over to the estate I kept thinking God had to have set this up. The
Freeholders are the people who control the County money and in order to get big
grants from the federal government and/or any state funding, you need the
cooperation of the local officials. (How well I know that!) God's timing is
always perfect. Never too early, never late, but always on time!
I met with Pat the Real Estate agent and we went through the big gates of the
estate. The estate’s home-owners were regular, down to earth, real people. In
fact, the wife had just cooked for 100 people at their church the day before. We
chatted like old friends and I really enjoyed meeting them.
I laid out the plans of what I would do to make this the showplace of the
county. In the meantime I was thinking about the fact that the museum doesn't
even know I am doing this.
I was comfortable with the homeowners, and comfortable in their huge Victorian
Mansion. It feels right! It should be a showplace and an art museum. In fact it
should be a "Center Honoring All Heroes."
A center honoring all heroes… A place of reflection, appreciation and healing…
It shouldn't be one museum. It should be a group of museums honoring heroes all
under one roof and on a huge piece of property. Who deserves the honors better
than our heroes including the military heroes, the police, the firemen, other
rescue workers, who put their lives on the line to protect ours?
But the Devil (who always has negative things to say) says "Who are you kidding?
They will never give you the money to do this project honoring our heroes."
Then the phone rang. It was a friend since childhood. She asked me what I was
doing and I told her.
She said "Didn't you once get a $4,000,000 sport and camp complex ... just by
asking?"
I laughed and said, “Yes! I did!”
All I had to pay was $100 for a dumpster. A cheap price to pay for a
multi-million dollar facility with 13 acres, a swimming pool, out-back courts,
racquetball courts, and ice-rink, a snack bar, and exercise rooms.
Today I was reminded that "With God ALL Things Are Possible!" And He only gives
the best!
