Dion (Part 1)
|
Ephesians 4:15 - God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it
in love -- like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the
source of everything we do. (MSG)
Matthew 11:29 - Walk with me and work with me -- watch how I do it. Learn the
unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
(MSG)
Dion has come to stay! I carried Dion into our home. He is very tiny. I knew
absolutely nothing about Dion when he came, nor did I know anything about his
previous home. But I accept him just as he is, no questions asked.
Dion eats, but not the kind of food I eat. He doesn't need food very often
either. When he does need food, I have to find it, catch it, and feed him. I
want Dion to live to grow and become bigger. Dion is his nickname. His real name
is Dionaea Muscipula. He proudly sits on my window sill. You see, Dion is a
Venus Fly Trap.
This has been a learning curve for me. I have learned from the Internet that
Dion grows in bogs in the wild in the Carolinas of the United States. The best
chance of survival in our arid country for one of his kind is to be in a
terrarium. I am learning all the time and experimenting with different things
concerning Dion's care.
We, too, are to learn -- to learn how to be a friend, to learn how to accept
others, to learn how to be candid with kindness and love in our relationships.
In order for our relationships to improve, we must take a good look at ourselves
and learn different ways of living.
Let's look at the learning process in our lives. Let's accept others, and yet at
the same time, let's confront others with kind words when needed.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us to learn more about You, so that we can grow and
become more like You in our relationships. Thank You that You are a God of
relationships, for relationships are very important to You. We love You. Amen.
