Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need
according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV)
"But, Ron, there isn't time or room for a longer pipe there," I said. "Why can't
we just leave it the way it is?" Anger welled up inside me. The work area was
governed by both county and city regulations which did not always agree. As the
job superintendent, I'm caught between the two sets of them. With my boss
pressuring me to get the job done on time, the frustration was building. I knew
Ron well. He was only trying to do the job right according to his instructions,
but that didn't fix my current problem.
"John, you may be able to turn the hydrant 90 degrees to make the longer pipe
fit," he suggested.
I hadn't thought of that. His idea reminded me of the drawing I had in my truck.
As we walked to the truck, Ron said, "You know, John, you have a boss to please,
I have a boss to please, and sometimes they are in conflict. But as Christians,
we both have someone higher to please. Let's you and I pray together and get our
guidance from Him."
Afterwards, with the engineering drawing and our pooled experience, we worked
out a solution, decided what materials we needed, and I left to get them. I
realized how close I had come to taking out my frustrations on my godly brother,
but instead, through him, we turned to God, who had met both our needs.
Prayer: Loving Father, please help us to remember to come to You first with
every need we have. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
