Wait Until Your Father Gets Home

I remember when I was little, and I would do something wrong;

Mama would send me to my room saying...."Just wait until your father get's home."
I would walk slowly down that hallway, as if I were going to the electric chair;
Dreading with all my heart, when daddy would get there.

The waiting was always the hardest, wondering what daddy would do;
When he'd get home, he'd come to my room and say..."I want to talk to you."
"You know you let me down, when you disobeyed your mother today;"
"I wouldn't be much of a father, If I did not make you pay."

"You know I have to punish you....not because I want to....but because I have to;"
"I love you with all my heart, and this hurts me more than it hurts you."
When he was through with my punishment, daddy always had tears in his eyes;
That would hurt me even more......knowing I made my daddy cry.

Someday I will walk that last hallway, and my Heavenly Father will be waiting at the end;
Knowing I have to answer to Him, for every time I committed a sin.
When I look Him in His' eyes, I do not wish to see any pain;
For He gave up all He had, so I could have everything to gain.
