Psalm 91:11-12 - For he will command his angels
concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their
hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. (NIV)
Do you believe in angels? Do they really exist? These questions ran through my
mind for quite a few days.
Every morning, when I start from my house, I say Psalm 91 along the way. When I
come to verses 11 and 12, I think, "Where are the angels?"
One day last October, I was returning from my friend Jene's house to my home
about six o'clock in the evening. To return to my house, I have to catch a
train, get down from it, and then catch a bus. It is a long trip; it takes
between one and two hours. I got down from the train, and crossed the track,
without seeing the signal. (I do not advise anyone to do this; for we are taught
in the Bible to obey the rules set by the government!)
Suddenly, my leg got caught in the track. I was not able to pull my leg out. "O
God!" No one was near me. But I cried to the Lord: "Send Your angels!" The train
was near me. I closed my eyes. I don't know what happened in those few seconds.
Someone pulled me out. I was out of the track. When I opened my eyes, no one was
there. I praised God.
God will deliver us by His angels when we fear Him.
Psalm 34:7 - The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he
delivers them. (NIV)
Prayer: Dear Master, send Your angels to guard us every day. Let them lead us in
our going and tell us the correct way. In the same way, O Lord, may we not
deviate from the right way in our spiritual lives. We ask everything in the name
of our Lord and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
