God's Open Door
|
Revelation 3:7-8 - And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,
"These things says He who is holy, He who is true, 'He who has the key of David,
He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens': I know your works.
See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a
little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name." (NKJV)
As a youngster, did you ever have fun with one of those old revolving doors? I
did -- with my brother. After entering an open section of the four-way revolving
door, round and round we'd go until the weight of the doors would make us run
faster and faster. Wonderful fun! But the fun would cease too soon, as we fell
in a heap and the door slowed to a stop or someone cross would stop us.
If we are honest, it is often our own choices and decisions that create negative
revolving-door situations in our lives. Too often, we (myself included) believe
that we are so right about a choice or decision -- until we realize something
NQR along with NQEL is happening: "Not quite right" along with "Not quite enough
light". Eventually, we fall in a heap, desperately praying, "I want to get out
of this thing! Oh, please, Lord! Enough! Enough!"
Our loving Lord longs to stop that revolving, unhappy situation, lead us out,
and show us His wise choices and decisions, so that we experience living the
safe, manageable, peaceable, fruitful situations of His will.
The blessed good news is that God's open door is not the revolving kind. "See, I
have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it."
This open door refers to honoured, privileged access, which Christ's Church --
we believers -- would not have, unless God swung that door wide open. It is an
open door of opportunities; yes, an open door for any who desire to attain to
greater growth and potential in our Lord Christ. In His service, it is also an
open door of His will for us to receive whatever He requires and desires of us.
Through God's door of opportunity, there's a completely new vista, a new
lifestyle, open before us -- one which is limitless and eternal.
1 Corinthians 2:9 - Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (KJV)
We need have no qualms as we go through God's open door. If we choose to be
yoked with our Lord Christ, we have His promise.
Matthew 11:29b,30 - Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me. ... For My yoke is
wholesome (useful, good -- not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable,
gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne. (AMP)
Brothers and sisters, we have no excuses for negative hesitations or
procrastinations. Let us resolve to walk through God's open door. Let us enjoy
the view! Let us enjoy His will! Let us enjoy His abundant life!
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that You equip us to the full. We can wisely and
confidently choose to obey Your will, "not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but
as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart." (Ephesians 6:6
KJV). Thank You for Your gifts, callings, and open doors, through which, by Your
grace, we can become more intimately close to You, as we serve in Your kingdom.
Amen and Amen!
