Teamwork

It has been a few years now since I have worked at a local delicatessen and restaurant. I remember my very first day starting at the deli, and coming from a banking background, I found it to be very, very different. My boss, a woman, was very patient with me and taught me how teamwork really played an important role in the retail business. For quite some time, the two of us did everything--slicing and selling cold cuts and other grocery items, cooking, baking, and preparing meals to be sold in the restaurant, taking orders from the customers, and so on--which made our days very hectic. And it was times like these which brought teamwork into effect. We worked well together.

As a writer, creating a devotional can sometimes be very frustrating. The Holy Spirit puts God-honouring thoughts into the writer's mind, and then the writer tries to incorporate these words with something that has happened in his or her life.

Not too long ago, I was working on a couple of devotionals, and for some strange reason, I couldn't get the words out and onto the sheet of paper. After rewriting a few times, I finally sent the final copy to the Submissions Editor of these devotionals. The Editor has had such an impact in my writing. He carefully scrutinizes my work and gently suggests alternative wording or phrases to create the final draft before publication: "teamwork".

More than two thousand years ago, Jesus picked twelve apostles to spread the good news of salvation and forgiveness to a needy people: "teamwork".

Ephesians 4:11-12 - And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of serve, to the building up of the body of Christ. (NASB)

1 Corinithians 3:9a - For we are God's fellow workers. (NASB)

Today, let us, with our God-given gifts, spread the message of reconciliation and forgiveness to a world in need: "teamwork".

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Son, Jesus, who came to save us from our sins. Equip us with the tools that are needed to spread Your message of reconciliation and hope to a world in need. Amen.
