Miracle-wonders Among You

Miracle-wonders Among You. Hope in the Distance, Part 14

Lawn Tractor

Joshua said with faith: "Tomorrow God will work miracle-wonders among you." (Joshua 3:5a MSG)

Joshua was right. The battle would be won through our Heavenly Father. Our God is a specialist of miracles. He can do anything!

The first miracle was this: "When the priests got to the Jordan and their feet touched the water at the edge (the Jordan overflows its banks throughout the harvest), the flow of water stopped. It piled up in a heap—a long way off—at Adam, which is near Zarethan. The river went dry all the way down to the Arabah Sea (the Salt Sea). And the people crossed, facing Jericho." (Joshua 3:15-16 MSG)

The second miracle was different. The Israelites had to walk around the city once every day for 6 days. On the seventh day, they walked 7 times around Jericho; and after the 7th time, they had to “shout at the top of their lungs.” (Joshua 6:5 MSG).

The people did as they were instructed: "The priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the blast of the trumpets, they gave a thunderclap shout. The wall fell at once." (Joshua 6:20 MSG)

Rahab and her family were saved.

This victory was won through the power of our loving Heavenly Father. Our Father always listens to us and He loves us. If we are in need, all we need to do is ask for His help.

A few years ago while I was cutting the grass on our lawn tractor, I wasn’t paying attention, and the next thing I knew, I was stuck in water and mud. I tried to free the machine, but nothing happened. "That won't work," I decided. Instead I asked the help of my Heavenly Father.

Within 5 minutes someone was headed my direction. He was a neighbor 2 houses down from us. Somehow, although he had been in his house at the time, he had a feeling someone needed help, and he came to my rescue.

I suggested that I push the tractor while he drove.

"No way!" He said. “It’s your tractor, you drive.”

I told him that I was concerned about the mud, but it didn’t matter to my neighbour. He insisted on pushing from behind.

Once the tractor was free and back on dry grass, I turned around to see my neighbor, completely covered in mud, laughing his head off. In the end, this incident worked to bring us closer to each other.

When I thought about it later, I realized that there was no way that my neighbor could have seen me in my predicament. God impressed on his mind that there was someone in need, and he came to my rescue. In the end, my feet never touched the water, and the stuck lawn tractor was freed, all thanks to God putting my need on the heart of someone. Only our Heavenly Father can do that.

"Ask and it will be given to you…" (Matt. 7:7 NIV)

Our Father cares of us. We have nothing to worry about. Hope is always with us, for our Heavenly Father is our hope.
