Pray For your Spouse. Experiencing God Through Healing, Intro

MIca Trail in Cape Breton

"Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, HCSB)

How many among us miss out on experiencing our Heavenly Father? What do you do, for example, when your spouse is sick? Most of us call the doctor. That's reasonable, don't you think, because we want our husband/wife to be healthy at all times. There is a Specialist, however, who can heal anything for free!

Please understand that I am not suggesting that we don't go to the doctor. I am simply suggesting that we not pass up an opportunity to experience our Heavenly Father by praying for our loved one. Praying for one another, after all, brings both of you closer than ever! Our Father will bless you, and you will experience His genuine love.

It may feel awkward at first to pray for your husband/wife. After all, you may not be used to doing so. You may not even see any improvement in your spouse's health, but don't give up! Just keep those prayers coming, and the miracles will happen: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV)

In September of last year, my wife and I visited Cape Breton in Eastern Canada. In one of the campgrounds the mosquitos were ferocious. As I was setting up the trailer for the night, I was bitten mercilessly. My elbow was bitten so many times that it swelled up like a little hill. My wife prayed for me, that the poison in my blood from the mosquitoes would not hurt me any longer and the swelling would calm. When she finished her prayer, the swelling was already starting to go down, and before long, it was completely gone. Wow! There was no more pain, no more itching, no more swelling. I was good to go!

What happens when we pray for one another is that we get closer to each other and closer to our Heavenly Father. We start to trust God completely.

Before we left to Cape Breton, my wife had arthritic pain in both of her knees to the point that the doctor was suggesting cortisone injections. She didn't want to go down that road, and I had often prayed for her healing. Nothing, however, had happened. There are many hiking trails in Cape Breton, and loving to hike, my wife's knees became pretty sore from the climbing. I prayer for her, and the pain disappeared. She was able to walk for hours without pain, and she is still pain free, all because we prayed for one another.

A healthy marriage is where we experience our Heavenly Father. After all, He is nuts about us. Too often we think God doesn't care, but that's not true! "If your child asks you, his father, for a fish, would you give him a snake instead? Or if your child asks you for an egg, would you give him a scorpion? Even though you're evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?" (Luke 11: 11-13, GW)

Our Heavenly Father cares for us. Let's start putting our trust in Him, for when we do, we begin to experience Him fully. Even your children will become ecstatic towards our Father. He is here for us!

Come and experience Him. You will be amazed at how much He loves you both!
