If I could only hear one verse of Scripture,
Which one would it be?
The verse that says You sent Your Son
To live and die for me?
Or one that promises no more death,
Cries, sorrow, tears or pain,
When You've gathered all Your loved ones,
Their eternal home to gain?
The part that says by serving You,
We'll be abundantly blessed;
Ordained for good works, power, joy,
Set apart from all the rest?
The piece that says Your Hand has kept us
From every trap and woe;
That You are with us evermore,
No matter where we go?
Oh Lord, Your Book is rife with words
That bless us -- every one!
But these are dearest to my heart
When You say, "Come, love My Son."
