In Godís Timing

Ecclesiastes 3:1,7 - To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to keep silence, and a time to speak. (KJV)

My husband was travelling with his sister in Scotland, and it is the norm in that fair country to provide accommodation by the method called "Bed and Breakfast", which is available without making any reservations. My husband and his sister were travelling along a narrow road when they passed a "B and B", but decided to continue on and stop a little later in the evening. Suddenly, the road narrowed to a track, which led almost into a field. They turned around and stopped at the accommodation which they had passed. It was pretty and neat accommodation, so they decided to stay the night.

The next morning after breakfast, they were in conversation with the elderly widow proprietor. When she discovered that her guests were from Canada, she informed them that she had a sister living in Canada, and, as always, the next question was whether they knew her. After much deduction as to where her sister lived, her married name, and also the profession in which her husband was involved, together with the changing of professional terminology, it was discovered that my husband knew the family well. From this subject the conversation turned to the Christian faith, and the lady declared that she had, at one time, attended church, and had been a professing Christian. However, she had allowed her spiritual life to be crowded out by day-to-day happenings. The outcome of the conversation was that the elderly lady promised to return to her church and begin again. My sister-in-law and my husband left the little B and B, rejoicing that God had used them in some small way for the extension of His kingdom. Before leaving, they took a picture outside the B and B, with my sister-in-law and the elderly proprietor.

Back in Canada, my husband visited the sister, and, when the door was opened, he held up the picture. The sister gasped in amazement, "What are you doing with a picture of my sister, and who is that other lady?" "That is my sister," replied my husband. Keeping in contact with the Canadian family and receiving all the up-to-date news from Scotland, he was later informed that the elderly widow had kept her word, returned to her church, and made a further commitment of her life to Christ. Both my husband and sister-in-law were humbled and delighted with the news of her restoration, and even more so, when, a year later, they heard that she had entered into the presence of the living Saviour. So many of us have longed for a loved one or a friend to accept God's wonderful plan of salvation. Let's remember that it's all in God's timing!

Prayer: Our gracious heavenly Father, we pray that we shall always be sensitive to the guiding of Your Holy Spirit when He asks us to speak the words in season. Thank You for the person who took the opportunity to tell us about Your great plan of salvation. We enter into Your throne room in and through the name of Your Son, Christ Jesus. Amen.
