Lift From a Stranger

Last week when I felt like I was walking a rocky road and I was feeling "down", I know God intervened and sent someone to lift me up. I have been recuperating at home with a back injury and had just had surgery on my knee. I had been wishing that people I knew had some time to visit and was feeling sorry for myself because the previous day had been one of conflict.

For all of August and on into September, for every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I've been transported back and forth between my home and a city 90 minutes south of us, for physiotherapy. On this one particular day, I had booked my Physio-therapy for a Tuesday and because of this change, I figured I would not run into anyone familiar.

As I walked into the Sports Medicine Clinic, a young man, Kim, was leaving. We stopped and chatted (getting updates on the healing progress of one another). I met Kim on a previous occasion while our physiotherapist was working on our respective knees. (Kim also had knee surgery). Kim could tell that I was not as happy and outgoing as usual and asked if he and his friend, who was acting as a driver, could say a prayer for me and for my healing.

Just that he asked uplifted me. Here I had been hoping that a friend would drop in and visit and instead, a stranger was offering me a magnificent gift. I accepted and was grateful for their prayers. Within minutes I found myself more energized than usual and the doldrums were gone!

At first I thought wow! Isn't it a coincidence to run into Kim but the more I thought about it the more I began to think that God had sent Kim to pave my rocky road!

I think our Heavenly Father knows our needs before we do and he often paves the way for us. Possibly coincidence is merely another way of saying God’s intervention.
