Puppy Gossip

In the meantime the pastors of Jubilee Christian Center had started a new church in Missisauga, a city close to Toronto, but the new leader at Jubilee had no vision for missions abroad at that time. As a result, our sharing about Irian Jaya fell on deaf spiritual ears. A member in that church started to gossip about the de Jongs, but instead of coming to us openly, talking and praying with us, she wrote a letter saying in veiled terms that we had been dishonest in regards to the sale of our business. To be honest, I was furious when I read the letter. That evening I sat down and addressed a letter to her telling her to mind her own business and that if she had odds with her brother and sister, she should come face to face with us. (James 4:11).

That night, (and I am so grateful for the interference of the Holy Spirit) a vision came to me in the night. A small puppy dog came yelping and bit my legs several times. I had a tire rod in my hand and hit that little doggy with all my might, but it came back again and again, while I hit it so hard that the poor thing would have died from the heavy blows. But no, it came back again! Then I saw only an arm and a hand reach out, pick up the puppy by its neck and it slowly disappeared. The next moment I was wide awake and I knew instantly what the vision was referring to. I said, "Thank You, Lord!" Turned around and fell peacefully asleep. The next morning I threw the letter I had written in the wastebasket. When I saw our accuser I just smiled at her, knowing that Joanne and I were in God's perfect will and plan for our lives. "He quiets me with His love, He clothes me with His peace."
