The Self-Cleaning Cycle

"Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool." (Isa 1:18) AMP

It’s absolutely amazing! You punch a button and wait for 3 hours, and the greasy, blackened oven is miraculously—clean!

If only I could do the same with my dog . . . But no. This blond Golden Retriever seems to have some kind of an affiliation with mud. Ten minutes out of the bathtub, and she’s running in the next muddy ditch, rolling in the dirty water gathered under the deck, or tussling with the filthy dog next door! Thirty minutes of hard work gone in just 30 seconds! There’s nothing to do but throw her back in the shower!

Or . . .

What would happen if I just left her dirty?

Highly frustrate one day by my “chocolate” retriever, I decided to just ignore it. When she came in filthy, I put her in her crate. I was going out anyway and didn’t have time to deal with her mud!

It was absolutely amazing. When I came back home several hours later, my chocolate dog was once again blond! I had no idea how it happened, but there she was, back to her original color!

I decided to test this out. The next time she got muddy, I didn’t rush her straight to the shower. Instead, I left her chained to the deck to dry, and sure enough, two hours later, she was blond again.

Okay. So it worked with mud. What about other sources of dirt? The last time we took her camping with us, she took refuge under the trailer and came out with a grease mark across the top of her head. Besides having no idea just HOW to remove grease from a dog’s head, we were miles from a tub or shower suitable to bathe her in. I had no choice. I just left it, and I promptly forgot about it. Two days later, as we were packing for our return home, my husband asked where the grease mark went. Amazingly enough, it was gone! I had no idea how she did it, but somehow she had managed to get the grease stain off the top of her head! It seems that my wish is granted. I do, indeed, have a “self-cleaning” dog!

The Bible tells us that when we accept Jesus into our hearts, he puts our sins as far away from Him as the east is from the west. Where our sins were once as scarlet, now we are white as snow (Is. 1:18), and where our own righteousness was once as filthy rags (Is. 64:6), now we were dressed in Jesus’ white robe of righteousness (Is. 61:10)! In God’s eyes, it is like we were never touched with the stains and grime of sin. Once covered by the blood of Jesus, we become—“self-cleaning”!

Would you like to be clean of the muck and grime of sin? Just push the “self-clean” button by surrendering your life to Jesus! It’s as simple as cleaning your oven or cleaning my dog!

What about it friends?
