My Little Princess Part 3: Invalid for Life

Does our Almighty Heavenly Father care about all His creatures? Are animals and birds important to Him?

When my Siamese cat was barely three weeks old, she was run over by a skateboard. One of the children of the lady who was raising her was practicing his skateboarding skills, and he didn't see the kitten scooting across the floor.

That ten year-old became frantic: "Mom, mom!" He yelled. "I think one of the kittens is dying! Come quickly!"

My little Princess was hardly breathing when the breeder picked her up. It was clear to her that she was dying. Being a mom, she knew the devastating consequences this would have on her young son who already felt so guilty. She quickly approached the One who could change this all around: "Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you with this frail creature that hasn't had a chance to life yet. My son hurt her by mistake. He feels so bad about that. Together we bring her into your hands, and thank you for breathing your breath of healing over her. Thank you for caring for all of your creation. We love you. In Jesus' name. Amen."

As they opened their eyes, they noticed that the kitten had perked up a bit. She seemed to have regained her will to live, and a few days later, she was as good as new.

"She should have died that day, but God had other plans for her," the breeder explained to me. "She is our miracle cat!"

Another time, when Princess was nearly two years old, she came home in excruciating pain, dragging both of her hind feet behind her and meowing cries of great distress. We were living in Walla Walla, Washington at the time, and Princess had gotten into the habit of sitting in the middle of the road, watching the occasional cars go by. Sometimes she would become so comfortable with her "car watching" that she would lay down and roll around on the pavement. We believe that during one of these times, she was hit by a car.

As soon as we found her, we took her to the vet, but after x-rays, the verdict wasn't too encouraging: "She will be crippled for life," explained the patient doctor. "She will never be able to use her hind legs ever again. You should consider putting her down."

But couldn't our Heavenly Father, who had healed her once, heal her a second time? The doctor's verdict was out, but we didn't believe it matched God's verdict. We gave her the chance to heal and sure enough, four weeks later, she was completely healed. God had miraculously intervened a second time on her behalf.

The vet couldn't believe his eyes: "I can't explain this!" He muttered while handing us his hefty bill. We sure were glad that God does not charge us for His services. We would be in eternal debt!

Princess should have died twice before she was two years old, but God had other plans for her. Sure enough, little Princess made a HUGE difference in my life. She was a companion who always came to give me comfort when I was feeling down and brightened my life just when I needed it the most!

God cares for all of His creation, and He cares even more for you: "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" (Matthew 6: 26-27 NIV) In fact, you are so important to God that He was willing to die for you: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever (that includes you) believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NIV)

Why worry when we have someone that powerful who loves us so dearly? Why not come to Him instead, and ask for His help and His guidance? You would be amazed how willing He is to come to your rescue: "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7:9-11 NIV)

No problems are too great for your Heavenly Daddy. The one who saved my little Princess twice is willing to save you, too!
