Overnight Parking

This Christmas has been more exciting than most for me. I work at a Christian Ministry in a beautiful building that has a beautifully decorated lobby, and have musicians come to play their instruments to inspire us to the fullest.

Our office is having a Christmas Decoration Contest, which makes it lots of fun, but also very tiring. We've had Christmas luncheons, and parties and dinners, so I am busy, busy, busy.

One day last week was especially busy for me. I had a luncheon at work, then that evening my husband had his Christmas dinner in North Dallas. I wouldn't have had time to go home from work first, so we decided he would pick me up at work and we would go from there, then I'd pick up my car on the way back.

Because I've been so tired, I decided to leave my car in the parking lot overnight and have my daughter-in-law Candi take me to work the next day. This created an opportunity to show off my grandson and daughter-in-law to everyone at work. Besides, she and Ethan could see the decorations in the building lobby (there was going to be a musician playing Christmas songs on his guitar. Ethan loves guitars!

When we arrived at the parking lot, Candi said "Ma, I'm surprised you left your car here overnight even though this is not the best of neighborhoods at night." I thought about it, but decided to leave it in the Lord's hands.

Later that afternoon, (I work part-time), I noticed something that didn't belong in the back of my car. What is this Lord, I said, as I opened the back door in fear of who had been in my car...

That's when I noticed my church's Prayer Board; I remembered my son telling me he would put it in the back of my car so I could work on a presentation Pastor Don wanted done on PowerPoint so everyone could see the prayer requests as they came to church Sunday mornings.

I could almost hear the Lord saying, "You left your car in My Hands Nancy, I watched over it... Prayer works, pray one for another because I am listening and waiting, and willing to hear from My people to protect & guide."

I am still wondering how I could have missed such a large board in the back of my car 3 entire days. All I can say is "I must busier, and more tired than I thought!"

The most important question we need to ask ourselves is "How many burdens are we carrying around without even being aware of them? How many opportunities has the Lord placed in our midst to pray for, or bless someone else?"

This year, let's remember to keep Christ in our Christmas, and to bring Him with us everywhere we go.

Thank You Lord, for this lesson; help me not to miss Kingdom reality in my life.

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.

"Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." 2 Peter 1:3-4

"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
