The Time we Spend Waiting

I am reminded that researching facts on the internet is sometimes like a crap shoot. What you find might appear to be what you were looking for, but is it true.

It is also a fact that we often search for things that support our own bias on a subject.

In other words we keep asking until we get the answer we want to hear.

Like praying to God.

We ask for something. We don't get it. So then we think that God doesn't listen. If we get what we ask for we praise Him as an awesome God.

Just understand that God provides what we need...period.

So you will get an answer, maybe just not what you expected.

I heard the word "waiting" today a number of times.

That got me thinking about how much time the "average" person spends waiting in their lifetime.

That took me to the internet. Remember there are a number of factors to consider. How long one lives, where one lives, male vs. female and occupation to name a few.

Here are just some of the "facts" I found:

The average person spends a hour a day waiting in line, that's 2-3 years in a life time.

The average person spends 2 weeks in a life time waiting at a red light.

The average person spends 43 days in a lifetime on hold.

And yes, the average person spends 20 minutes a day on the toilet.

If you live to be 80 that's approximately 13 months, one week.

Of course we wait in a doctor's office.

We wait for someone to return a call.

We wait in an airport. We wait for the bus, a taxi.

We wait for the "right person to come along."

We wait for the shower temperature to be right before we step in.

We wait for our coffee to brew.

All of those things eventually work out.

But how about these?

We wait to say, "I'm sorry."

We wait to call a sick friend.

We wait to forgive.

We wait to say, "I love you!"

The coffee will brew, the taxi will arrive, the doctor will see you, the light will turn green.

But it may very well be too late to say, "I love you," "I'm sorry!"

"I forgive you!"

Oh, and if we slept 8 hours a day and lived to be 75, we will have slept 219,150 hours.

What little time we have to really live!

What are you waiting for? "Mr. Postman?"
