I was a student in France, living in the mountains (this was decades ago,
when dinosaurs used to roam the land!). I had to take my car to go to church. I
was concerned, as it was snowing heavily and the roads were slippery. Before
leaving my dorm, I prayed for God to help me get safely to church. As soon as I
left the dorm's parking lot, I had to climb a sharp hill. It was covered by
snow. I started to slip and was unable to move on. I prayed again for divine
assistance.
All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a man knocked at my window. I thought that
maybe I just hadn't seen him coming, as I was concentrating too much on my
efforts to reach the top of the hill. I rolled down my window, and to my
amazement this guy tells me that he will help push my car to the main road. I
told him I would get out and help him. He said this wouldn't be necessary, to
please stay at the wheel. My mind was rolling. It would be impossible for one
man to push this car up on this sharp hill in that amount of snow. Still, I
obeyed him and to my amazement, he pushed me to the main road, without any
problems.
As soon as we reached the top, I jumped out of my car to thank him, but he was
nowhere to be found. I had a clear view of the main road and of the sharp hill,
but I couldn't see him. Even if he had sprinted I would have been able to see
him run away. He was gone! Pouf!
Right there and then, I realized that God had sent me one of his angels. I went
into my car and thanked God for protecting me and guiding me on the road.
God is awesome my friend! David also experienced God's hand in his life and I
could claim with him Ps 91:1 "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will
rest in the shadow of the Almighty." NIV
Angels are only the agents from God (see Heb 1:14) Our Heavenly Father is the
One who sends them. Rely only on God. Find shelter in His arms and you will find
rest for your soul.
A word of caution, though: Do NOT worship angels! The apostle Paul warns us
against that in: Col 2:18-19 "Do not let anyone who delights in false humility
and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into
great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with
idle notions. He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body,
supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it
to grow." NIV We should only worship the head, who is the One who sends His
angels to help us. Who is the head? It's none other that our loving Saviour
Jesus Christ. To Him belongs all glory! : Col 2:10 "You have been given fullness
in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority." NIV
Also, may I encourage you to stop trying to solve all of your problems by
yourself. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus. He will carry you through any trials.
He loves you!
